Reorderly

Reorder point calculator

A reorder point is how much stock you can have left before it's time to place a new order — low enough that you're not ordering too early, high enough that the new stock arrives before you sell out.

Order now

Reorder point: 63 units. Order once you have this many units or fewer on hand.

Days of stock left
10
Suggested order quantity
192 units

How we got this number

  1. Sales velocity. v = 3 units/day — entered directly. Reorderly's own app doesn't ask for this: it blends your last 30 and 90 days of real order history instead (60% the last 30 days, 40% the last 90).
  2. Seasonality. s = 1.0 — this calculator makes no seasonal adjustment. Inside Reorderly, s rises to 1.3 for a product automatically once a store has 13+ months of history and this month sold more than 30% above the three months before it, last year.
  3. Days of stock. d = 30 in stock ÷ 3 units/day = 10 days.
  4. When to order. Order once d ≤ lead time 14 + buffer 7 = 21 days. d is 10, so: order now. That's the same as saying: reorder point = 3 × 21 = 63 units.
  5. How much. q = ceil(3 × 60 days − 30 + 3 × 14) = 192 units, enough to cover 60 days of demand plus the lead time it takes to arrive, minus what you already have.

What this calculator leaves out

This page simplifies Reorderly's own math: it takes your daily sales rate as a flat input instead of computing it from order history, assumes a fixed 60-day order horizon, and ignores seasonality, stock already on order, minimum order quantities and partial deliveries. Real stores also deal with things a single formula on a page can't:

  • Lumpy demand — a handful of big orders, not a steady daily trickle
  • Overdue deliveries that no longer count as stock on the way
  • Partial receipts, where only some of an order arrives
  • Multiple suppliers and lead times for the same product

Reorderly does this arithmetic per product, automatically, from your store's own order history — including all of the above.

Reorderly is live on the Shopify App Store. It runs this arithmetic — plus seasonality and order-tracking — for every product in your store automatically, from your own sales history, and shows its working on every number.
